FOREST GROVE, Ore. - Samantha Potter scored 19 points on Saturday night but Pacific Lutheran came out on the losing end of an 87-43 defeat to the host Pacific Boxers at Stoller Center.
Pacific Lutheran is now 6-15 this season and 3-11 in the conference, while Pacific improved to 14-8 overall and 7-7 in the NWC.
Potter shot 9-for-18 from the field but was the only Pacific Lutheran player to score in double digits as the Lutes shot just 31 percent (19-for-61) from the field overall and 15 percent (2-for-15) from three-point range. The Lutes also had just four free throw attempts, hitting three of those, and they turned the ball over 23 times.
Katelyn Smith and Megan Abdo led the Lutes with six rebounds each.
Pacific had five players in double figures, led by Alex Pfefferle and Kaila Johnson with 14 points apiece. The Boxers shot 46 percent (32-for-69) from the field and 94 percent (16-for-17) at the foul line.
PLU took its only lead of the game after 56 seconds on a pair of free throws by Smith, but the Boxers scored the next 10 points. They led by as many as 25 points in the first half and took their largest lead of the game at 84-39 with 3:32 to play.
Pacific Lutheran closes its 2013 season next weekend when it hosts Lewis & Clark and George Fox in conference games.
