McMINNVILLE, Ore. – Linfield used a 14-point streak to pull away early in the first half as the Wildcats took down Pacific Lutheran 92-68 Saturday evening in the Northwest Conference women's basketball finale for both teams.

Linfield outscored the Lutes 47-33 in the first half on the strength of 51.5 percent shooting (17-of-33), including 8-of-44 from three-point range. The Wildcats cooled a bit in the second half but still finished the night at 44.6 percent overall (29-of-65) and 64.7 percent from long range (11-of-17). The lutes shot only 26.5 percent in the opening period (9-of-34) and had to rally to finish the night at 31.9 percent (22-of-69).

The two teams combined for 55 free throw attempts, with PLU hitting 17 of 20 and Linfield knocking down 26 of 35. The Wildcats finished the night with a 50-40 rebounding advantage and nine blocked shots to offset a 15-11 PLU advantage in turnovers.

After Quincey Gibson opened the night with a three-pointer for Linfield, the Lutes scored the next seven points to take a 7-3 lead. Unfortunately for PLU, Linfield scored the next 14 points to turn the four-point deficit into a double-digit advantage, and the Wildcats only briefly allowed PLU to pull back within single digits.

The game marks the end of the season for both teams, with PLU wrapping up the 2013-14 campaign at 7-18 overall and 3-13 in the NWC. Linfield improves to 9-16 overall and 5-11 in conference play.
