LAKEWOOD – Pacific Lutheran's women's rowing team opened the 2014 season in strong fashion Saturday morning, picking up a pair of varsity wins over Seattle Pacific at American Lake.
The Lutes opened the morning with a 22-second victory in the women's varsity 8, marking the second consecutive year the Lutes have defeated the Falcons in the event. PLU finished the course in a time of 7:23, compared to SPU's finish of 7:45.
PLU followed that up with a 16-second win in the varsity 4, as the Lutes finished in 8:13 to SPU's 8:29 finish. The Falcons picked up the victory in the JV 4, posting a time of 8:33 to the Lutes' 9:08.
Pacific Lutheran returns to action next weekend at the Cascade Sprints, scheduled for 8 a.m. on March 29 at American Lake.
