LA MIRADA, Calif. – The Pacific Lutheran men's tennis team wrapped up its spring break trip to California Wednesday, falling to Biola 7-2 in nonconference action at Biola Tennis Center.
The doubles team of James Okubo and Sam Stadter picked up the first win of the day for the Lutes, downing Brandon Chang and Chris Evans 8-1. Biola won the other two doubles matches, as Spencer Herron/Jake Yannello fell 8-5 and Hayden McCartney/Neal Berg fell 8-6.
"Our doubles teams played strong today, with No. 3 improving to 4-1 on this trip and Nos. 1 and 2 just unable to climb out of early holes," PLU head coach Rocky Poulin said.
Herron claimed PLU's final win of the day, taking the No. 2 singles win with a 6-3, 6-2 victory against Isaiah Pekary.
"Spencer played at a level today that we all believe he can play at if he can stay healthy.
The loss drops PLU's record to 2-9 as the Lutes head into some time off before returning to Northwest Conference action on April 4 at Pacific.
"Now we rest for the home stretch of the season," Poulin said. "We have some worn out bodies."
