PASADENA, Calif. – The Pacific Lutheran men's tennis team continued its spring break tour through southern California Sunday with a pair of nonconference matches, falling to Caltech in the morning and Arizona Christian in the afternoon by identical 6-3 scores.
Pacific Lutheran wrapped up the day at 2-9 overall this season and will return to action Monday, taking on Occidental at 3:30 p.m.
Jeremy Marsh finished the day with a pair of singles wins and two doubles wins for PLU. He defeated Caltech's Alexander Henny 6-1, 6-2 in the morning and knocked off Arizona Christian's Andrew Gross 6-1, 6-1 in the afternoon match. He also added doubles victories in both matches in the ACU match, teaming with Noel Oteng-Mensah to defeat Caltech's Henny and Fabio Arai 8-1 in the morning and Arizona Christian's Adam West and Antoine Bedard 8-3 in the afternoon.
Alberto Leal picked up the Lutes' third match victory against Caltech, defeating Zachary Lipel 6-1, 6-1 in the sixth singles contest of the morning match. James Okubo picked up PLU's third match win against Arizona Christian, outlasting David Castano 3-6, 7-6, 1-0 (10-7) for the comeback victory. That was Okubo's second extended match of the day, after he pushed Sathwick Pathireddy to extra points before falling 7-6 (7-2), 6-4 in the morning contest. Sam Stadter also put together a lengthy battle against Arizona Christian, falling 3-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-2) against Santiago Galeffi.
