LOS ANGELES – Playing its fourth match in three days, the Pacific Lutheran men's tennis team dropped an 8-1 nonconference match to Occidental Monday at Scholl Canyon.
One day after winning all four of his matches, Jeremy Marsh continued his hot streak with his third straight singles win to lead the Lutes. Marsh defeated Bryson Lee 6-4, 6-3 in the fifth singles match.
Josh Dancou defeated Sam Stadter 6-2, 6-0 at the top of the singles ladder, and Eric Kazangian defeated Sam Angel 6-1, 6-3 in the second match. Avery Chernin took down James Okubo 6-1, 6-1 in the third match, while Avery Howard knocked off Noel Oteng-Mensah 6-2, 7-6 and Jesse Kreger defeated Alberto Leal 6-1, 6-0.
The doubles round featured a close second match that saw Kreger and Howard hold off Oteng-Mensah and Marsh 9-7. Dancu and Chernin defeated Stadter and Angel 8-2, and Kazangian and Lee knocked off Okubo and Leal 8-3.
Pacific Lutheran fell to 2-10 this season with the loss. The Lutes wrap up their spring break California trip Wednesday, when they will visit Biola at 10 a.m.
