LAKEWOOD , Wash. - The Pacific Lutheran men's tennis team earned a 9-0 exhibition sweep over Bellevue College on Saturday afternoon.
Five Lutes claimed victories in both doubles and singles matches.
In doubles, James Okubo and Alberto Leal started the day with a 7-6 victory. Jeremy Marsh and Noel Oteng-Mensah followed with a sweep through their match and Chan Thourk and John Woelfel took the No. 3 match, 6-1.
Okubo used his doubles win to spark singles play for the Lutes by winning the No. 1 match, 8-2. Marsh followed with an 8-1 victory in the No. 2 match and Oteng-Mensah took the No. 3 match, 8-2. Thourk took the No. 5 singles, 8-0.
The closest singles matches came at No. 4 and No. 6 with Justin deMattos and Woelfel earning 8-4 and 8-6 victories.
The men will travel to California next week for their annual spring break trip.
The Lutes will take on Biola on March 29, followed by a match against Hope International on March 30 and CalTech on March 31. The Lutes return to home action on April 2 hosting Pacific at Sprinker Tennis Center.
