ABILENE, Tex. - Leah Magee provided the game-winner in double overtime in just her second collegiate game as the Pacific Lutheran women's soccer team continued to mess with Texas on Saturday, outlasting University of Mary Hardin-Baylor 2-1 to close out its tour of the Lone Star State.

"Obviously ecstatic about getting two wins in a tough environment," said Head Coach Seth Spidahl. "It was about 93 degrees and was a hard hot day. We had a very early character test that we had to go through and we passed. I'm really proud how the team gathered themselves."

Magee found the back of the net in the 102nd minute, netting her first collegiate goal off a pass from Liz Griffith. The Lutes (2-0) enjoyed a 1-0 advantage at the halftime intermission after Lauren Larson scored in the 38th minute with Lena Moreno providing the assist. The Crusaders (1-1) struck back in the 72nd minute with Amanda Carlough netted the unassisted score. Neither team was able to break through in the final 18 minutes, forcing two 10-minute golden goal periods.

"Leah picked a great time for her first goal. We had two first year players combine on the winning goal in overtime. I'm really proud of her (Magee) as a freshman. She's come on and has been mobile and technical and has a coachable spirit."

PLU finished the contest with a 16-7 edge in shots, including an 8-5 advantage in shots on goal.

Takara Mitsui netted the win in goal, making four saves while UMHB's Cassidi Musser and Courtney Craig combined to make six stops in the losing effort.

"Today was a good test that our preseason was about right. We certainly gained a lot of fitness from this weekend. We still need to get fitter but we certainly were fit enough to combat the Texas humidity and heat. Preseason is a time you need to move people ahead physcially and not injure them. We certainly had enough in the tank to get the job fone and I think our preseason was spot on. I'm really proud of the team and it was a really great opening weekend for the team."

The Lutes return to action on Friday, hosting Concordia College of Moorhead, Minnesota inside the friendly confines of East Field.
