TACOMA, Wash. – After a blowout victory over George Fox University on Saturday, the Pacific Lutheran University women's soccer team came out and dominated again on Sunday in a 1-0 victory over Northwest Conference rival Lewis & Clark College at East Field.

The Lutes (10-2, 7-1 NWC) were absolutely in control of the game in the first half, keeping the Pioneers (2-8-2, 1-5-2 NWC) from taking any shots in the opening 45 minutes of play.

A goal from junior Liz Griffith in the 32nd minute put the Lutes ahead. The goal came on an assist from senior Machaela Graddy, and served as the game-winning goal for the Lutes.

Head coach Seth Spidahl saw an interesting comparison between the game against George Fox and this game.

"Soccer's a funny game sometimes: we had more shots and corners today than we did yesterday, and today we scored one goal and yesterday we scored five," he said.

The Lutes defense proved that they can hold their own, as they kept the Pioneers to a single shot on goal in the entire game as PLU enjoyed a 19-2 edge in shots while owning a 7-0 edge in corner kicks taken. Lute goalkeeper Natalie Robinson needed to make just one save to accumulate her 10th clean sheet of the season.

"We created some unbelievable chances today," said Spidahl. "I'm proud of our team: we are dealing with the fact that we're going to get everyone's best shot, but the objective of the day was to get three points and we did that today so I'm proud of them."

The Lutes will play next at Pacific University on Friday, October 13th in the first of three consecutive road games.
