BELLEVUE, Wash. – The Pacific Lutheran University men's tennis squad finished off the weekend on a positive note, besting host Bellevue College, 6-3 on Sunday at the Robinswood Courts.

"It came down to the wire today," said Head Coach Matt Look. "Road matches are always tricky, but we came out ahead in doubles. Ultimately, it was a battle for the singles courts, and both Branson and John handled their tiebreakers well to give us the win. It was a good team victory before heading to eastern Washington next week."

The Lutes (6-10) set the tone in doubles play, winning two of the three matches. Justin DeMattos and Chan Thourk escaped with an 8-6 win over the Bulldogs (2-4) at No. 2 while John Woelfel and Branson Near collaborated to take down Soham Dharap and Shu Chatoni by an 8-5 scoreline.

In singles, Niko Convento wrapped up the weekend undefeated, dispensing of his opponent by a, 6-4, 6-3, scoreline at the No. 1 position. Thourk posted the, 6-4, 6-1, win at No. 4 while Branson Near grinded out a, 7-5, 6-7, 1-0 (10-7), decision at No. 5. John Woelfel claimed the win at No. 6, outlasting Dharap, 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 (11-9).

The Lutes return to the courts on Saturday, heading to eastern Washington to face Community Colleges of Spokane.
