"It was really special to celebrate the remodel and expansion of the locker room in Olson, and see the reaction of supporters seeing the space for the first time," said Head Cross Country and Track & Field Coach
Adam Frye. "This project has already improved the experience of our student-athletes and will pay dividends for PLU and our teams in recruiting new Lutes. I thank the University for their commitment to the project and all the alumni, family, friends, and staff who made this dream a reality!"
The 3,675 square foot renovated locker room space includes 133 new lockers and 10 shower stalls in addition to new heating, air conditioning, and ventilation systems. The facility will service over 150 student-athletes from the three sport programs and was an imperative project to keep PLU as one of the premier athletic departments in the Pacific Northwest and NCAA Division III.
The project was a collaboration between multiple departments on campus, Korsmo Construction and their subcontractors, and SuperGraphics. The locker room project was additionally made a reality by the generosity of over 200 households of alumni, parents, and friends of the University.
"This locker room is a beautiful new space. Re-imagined, aesthetically pleasing, and extremely practical. For that I'm extremely grateful," said Head Coach
Brant McAdams.
"But more so, I'm grateful for the opportunity and cause that this space creates. A space that gives our players more time to connect and grow through locker room conversations and a space that will attract years of future Lute student-athletes to a place that produces excellence everywhere that counts; on the field, in the classroom, and in the community."
The storied PLU football team has won 22 conference titles and four national titles while the men's cross country team has 13 Northwest Conference titles, including winning a share of the title this past fall. The Lute men's track & field team has won 11 NWC crowns while boasting 12 individual national champions.
$500,000 has been dedicated to the project in 2019-2020 as a challenge grant to partially fund the project. The University is inviting funding partners and alumni to match this amount to make these investments possible this year. Lute supporters have the ability to donate to the project, including the option to secure naming rights on a locker for $2,500. For more information, please visit:
