TACOMA, Wash. - The Pacific Lutheran University women's basketball team continues its five game homestand on Saturday, welcoming in-state rival Northwest University to Olson Gymnasium.
The Lutes (4-2) are coming off a tough 73-65 setback against Northwest Christian University.
Katie Taylor tied a school record with eight three-pointers and led the team in scoring, putting up 24 points. Taylor has been a serious threat from behind the arc all season as she leads the nation in three pointers with 4.67 per game.
"I had no idea that I had tied the school record until after the game," said Taylor. "While exciting, it was disappointing for us to not have won. As a team, we try to capitalize on our individual strengths and for me, it's shooting outside the arc. We found our rhythm in the second half but sad to say we ran out of time to win the game."
Through the opening six games of the season, the Shoreline, Washington native leads the team in scoring, averaging 19.5 points per game, one of three Lutes averaging in double figures along with
Madison Salisbury (16.5 ppg) and
Emma Janousek (11.8 ppg).
As the team shifts their focus towards this weekend Taylor talked about the teams goals for the game against Northwest University.
"In this upcoming game we are looking to execute our inside-out team offense as well as continuing to work on our defensive shifts and communication."
The Lutes look to continue their hot start and high octane offense. Tip off will be tomorrow at 6 p.m. in Olson Gymnasium.
