Box Score PORTLAND, Ore. – The Pacific Lutheran University men's basketball team got back into the win column on Friday night as they blew past Portland Bible College 77-40 for their first road victory of the 2019-20 season.
"I thought we did a nice job defensively tonight in getting them to take a lot of contested shots," said PLU Head Coach
Chad Murray. "We had pockets in the game where we lost focus and got beat on a lot of 50-50 balls. We also didn't finish opportunities in the paint the way we wanted. So, while we are always happy to get a win and have everyone contribute, we have a lot to work on and will continue to do that next week."
PLU played lockdown defense for the majority of the night, holding the Wildcats to just 28.6 percent shooting from the field. Offensively, the Lutes knocked down 44 percent of their three-point tries and were led by
Seth Hall with three from downtown.
Four players hit double figures for PLU, led by senior
Leighton Kingma with 15. Hall scored a career-best 13, while
Kelton Williams and
Jordan Thomas both tallied 10. Thomas had a solid all-around game with a steal, eight rebounds and six assists.
PLU remains on the road next Saturday when they head back to Oregon for a 4:00 p.m. tipoff at Northwest Christian University.
