Box Score TACOMA, Wash. – With wins in four of the six singles matches, the Pacific Lutheran men's tennis closed the weekend with a 6-3 Northwest Conference win over Willamette Sunday at Sprinker Recreation Center.
"Today was a nice win for the team," said Head Coach
John Campbell. "Doubles were all competitive and tight matches and I felt good about getting two out of three. Jake and Branson dominated their matches and it was especially great to see Jake be in a great mind all weekend. Hampus and Marcus also played great."
The Lutes (4-5, 1-3 NWC) opened up the match capturing the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles matches, with
Hampus Pers Eliasson and
Justin deMattos defeating the Bearcats (1-7, 1-1 NWC) Colin Fisher and Gene Perle-Jones and
Jake Kim and
Branson Near claiming victory over Luke Hiserman and Charles Pezeshke both with a score of 8-6.
In singles, Eliasson defeated Fischer 6-3, 6-3 in the No. 3 match.
Marcus Lee defeated Perle-Jones 6-4, 6-1 in the No. 4 match, and
Jake Kim claimed victory over Hiserman 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 5.
Branson Near ensured the victory with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Charles Pezeshke in the No. 6 match.
"Overall, today was the team win that we needed."
The Lutes head to California for a three-match road trip during spring break kicking off with Cal Lutheran on Sunday, March 24 at 1 p.m. in Thousand Oaks.
