Women's Soccer Knocks Out Boxers, 4-0

FOREST GROVE, Ore. - The Pacific Lutheran University women's soccer team remained perfect in Northwest Conference play on Sunday afternoon, getting four goals from four different players to dismantle host Pacific University 4-0.

Leah Magee was the first Lute to find the back of the net, scoring in the 24th minute off a pass from Meghan Michels. Michels would collect her second assist of the game 11 minutes later, finding Kari Mills to double the Lute lead. Michels would tally a goal of her own less than two minutes later, scoring in the 36th minute off a feed from Brianna Hunting.

Alyssa Jordan added to the Lute lead in the second half, scoring in the 76th minute off a pass from Jami Hughes to conclude the scoring.

PLU (6-1-1, 4-0 NWC) utterly dominated the Boxers (2-5, 0-4 NWC) in the stat sheet, owning a 24-1 advantage in shots, a 15-1 edge in shots on goal while taking all 13 corner kicks in the game.

Ashton Huppert collected the shutout in goal, making one save in 90 minutes of work. Her counterpart, Saya Brown, made 11 saves while conceding four goals on the day.

"It was a good way to finish up the weekend," said Head Coach Seth Spidahl. "It's a game where we had four different players score. Alyssa got her first goal at PLU which is cool and Meghan continues on her offensive tear. It was a great game to get everyone in and a good way to finish up the weekend."

The three-time defending NWC Champion Lutes have outscored its four conference opponents by a combined 12-0 scoreline this season.

"We come down here next weekend but anytime you can go on the road and get two wins and get shutouts and score six goals, we'll take that. We still have a lot of work to do and improve upon so we're staying humble at where we're at and the challenges ahead."

The Lutes return to Oregon next weekend, facing George Fox University on Saturday at 12 p.m. in Newberg.
