TACOMA, Wash. -Â The Pacific Lutheran University men's swimming team remained undefeated in Northwest Conference dual meets on Friday night, slipping past Whitman College 105-98 inside the PLU Pool.

Seth Koivisto,
Christiaan Chandler, and
Hayden Mortensen made a splash in the opening event, teaming up to win the 200-yard medley relay in a time of one minute, 37.85 seconds. Trieu would take top billing again later in the meet, prevailing in the 50-yard freestyle as the Lutes took the top three places. Trieu finished in 21.71 with
Phillip Hecksel and Mortensen tying for second with identical times of 22.84.Â

The Lutes (4-0)Â would monopolize the podium later in the meet, taking the top three spots in the 100-yard freestyle. Mortensen led the charge, touching the wall in 49.16 with Hecksel taking second (50.73) and Charlie Cutter placing third (50.75).Â

Alexander Johannessen won the 500-yard freestyle in 4:56.57, owning a 10-second buffer on the rest of the field while Koivisto claimed his second win of the night in the 100-yard breaststroke (59.07).Â

"Man, what a great night! We swam well and really stepped up to what is always a tough challenge from Whitman. These meets are always tight and usually come down to the end," said Head Coach

PLU netted runner-up finishes from Johannessen in the 200-yard freestyle (1:45.16), Koivisto in the 100-yard butterfly (53.34),
Jared Toschi in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:40.10), Trieu in the 100-yard backstroke (52.59), and the 200-yarcd freestyle relay team (1:31.96).Â

The Lutes close out their home slate tomorrow afternoon, facing Whitworth University at 1 p.m.
