Box Score SALEM, Ore. - The Pacific Lutheran University men's tennis squad put together another strong performance on Sunday, winning four of the seven completed matches in a dual hosted by Willamette University.
Michael Campbell and
Hampus Pers Eliasson edged out the Bearcats' No. 1 doubles team by an 8-6 scoreline while
Branson Near and
Derek Stone won by an identical score at the No. 3 position.
Jake Kim and
Ryan Adams battled hard at the No. 2 spot, ultimately coming up short, 8-6.
In singles, Eliasson breezed to a, 6-0, 6-2, decision at No. 3 while Stone collected the, 6-2, 6-4, victory at the No. 4 position.
"Hampus and Derek both had great weekends, winning all four of their matches," said Head Coach
John Campbell. "I was very happy how our team played and competed."
Michael Campbell's match at No. 2 singles and
Branson Near's match at No. 6 were both unfinished as the team's ran out of court time. Campbell dropped his first set 2-6 but won the second 6-4 while Near trailed 7-6 at the No. 6 spot.
The Lutes (1-0) return to the court next Saturday, making the short trek across town to face the University of Puget Sound at 10:30 a.m.
