Box Score PORTLAND, Ore. - The Pacific Lutheran University men's tennis team had its Northwest Conference opener spoiled on Sunday by host Lewis & Clark College, falling 9-0 to the host Pioneers.
"It was a rough day for the Lutes," said Head Coach
John Campbell. "Lewis & Clark came out hot in doubles and we had a hard time getting back into the matches. Lewis & Clark play big and play well at their home bubble and we weren't able to overcome that advantage."
Hampus Pers Eliasson and
Michael Campbell battled at No. 1 doubles but were unable to keep pace with Lewis & Clark's Ramez Attia and Shane Lynette, suffering their first doubles setback of the spring.
In singles,
Ryan Adams fell, 6-0, 6-4, to Attia at No. 1 while at No. 3 Pers Eliasson battled to a third set before stumbling, 6-2, 1-6, 6-3, in his first singles defeat of the year.
"We will get back to work and get better this week."
The Lutes are back on the courts on Saturday, hosting Willamette University inside the Sprinker Recreation Center.
