A dual-sport student-athlete, Emma Peters has developed important relationships through her athletics career, and plans to keep them for the rest of her life.

A member of both the volleyball and track & field team, Peters is grateful to have met many amazing people, including her teammates and coaches. Throughout her time as a Lute athlete, Peters was also involved with the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and the Lutes Lead program.

"I have learned how to communicate and lead in team settings," Peters said.

Out of many memories, Peters recalled the fun of the pre-season activities for volleyball when she and her teammates could bond before the competitive season began. In addition, she remembers the excitement of going to the NCAA Division III Volleyball Championships two years in a row.

Outside of athletics, Peters was a member of Beta Alpha Psi, an accounting club. She also enjoyed living with her five housemates for the past two years.

On the court, the Eugene, Oregon native appeared in 81 matches for the Lutes, helping the program amass a 72-31 overall record over the past four seasons, including a 49-15 mark in Northwest Conference action. Peter's time on the squad saw the Lutes win NWC titles in both 2017 and 2018, competing at the NCAA Championships both seasons.

As a track & field competitor, Peters competed in 26 meets over the past four seasons, placing eighth in the discus at the 2017 NWC Championships and sixth in the same event at the 2018 NWC Championships. Her personal best throw of 122 feet, four inches in the discus, set at the Ken Shannon Invitational during the 2018 season currently ranks 15th on PLU's all-time list. In addition to competing in the discus, Peters additionally threw the hammer and javelin.

"Emma is part of a senior class that has helped us build one of the best throws programs in the NWC," said head track & field coach Adam Frye.

"Her hard work and competitive drive helped her to score in the discus twice at the conference championships. Emma is one of our athletes who has excelled in two sports at PLU. She has contributed to two NWC Championships in volleyball. We appreciate her dedication to PLU Athletics and the growth of our team throughout her career."

Peters will graduate with a degree in Business Administration with an Accounting emphasis. She plans to start her career as an auditor in Seattle beginning in October.
