FOREST GROVE, Ore. - The Pacific Lutheran University women's tennis team had the upper hand in doubles play but was unable to maintain that advantage throughout the match, suffering a 6-3 setback to Pacific University in the Northwest Conference opener.
"We started off strong, winning two of the three doubles matches against a deep Pacific team," said Head Coach
Cheri Campbell.
"The scores didn't reflect the growth and experiences the players had this week, I'm proud of how each player competed."
Bayley Gochanour finished the afternoon undefeated, collecting an 8-4 victory at No. 2 doubles with partner
Taylor Stokes before collecting a decisive, 6-2, 6-0, win at No. 3 singles.
Jillian Chong and
Meggie Burnett remained perfect in doubles action, netting an 8-3 decision at the No. 3 position.
The Lutes (1-1, 0-1 NWC) open their home slate next Saturday, hosting George Fox University inside Sprinker Rec Center.
