TACOMA, Wash. – The Pacific Lutheran University women's tennis team battled, but came up empty in a 9-0 defeat to Linfield University on Saturday afternoon at Sprinker Recreation Center.
"We fought hard against a deep Linfield team," said PLU Head Coach
Cheri Campbell. "The scores don't reflect the way we competed, including Bayley's almost two hour match. She showed tremendous patience and a willingness to grind in each point. We'll get back to practicing in preparation for our matches at Whitworth next weekend."
Playing at the No. 3 spot in the lineup,
Bayley Gochanour won three games in her match with Hayley Fujimori, which was the best effort for the Lutes on the day.
Sydney Cameron and
Hannah Jeffries also won three games at the top spot in the doubles lineup.
The Lutes (3-3, 2-3 NWC) head east next Saturday when they travel to Whitworth University for a 2:00 p.m. first serve.
