TACOMA, Wash. – Trailing by 13 points at the half, the Pacific Lutheran University women's basketball team cut the lead to just seven in the third quarter, but would come no closer in a Northwest Conference defeat to George Fox University, 71-47.
Katy Cook's layup with 4:40 remaining in the third quarter, cut the Bruin lead to 43-36. It was the closest the Lutes had been since the final stages of the first quarter. George Fox built their lead back to 11 by the end of third quarter and outscored PLU 23-10 in the fourth quarter.
PLU had a tough night offensively, shooting 26 percent from the field and made just 5 of 34 three-point attempts.
Josie Napoli led the team with nine points and passed out nine assists.
Jaida Wood and
Kasidy Javernick had eight each, with Wood tying for the team high with
Ava Edmonds and
Stacie Spahr with five rebounds. Wood also added a pair of blocks to her stat line.
The Lutes will remain at home on Saturday when they take on the Pioneers of Lewis & Clark College. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
