Complete NACDA Directors' Cup Standings
TACOMA, Wash. — The National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) released its final fall LEARFIELD Directors' Cup Standings on Thursday with the Pacific Lutheran University athletic department ranking fifth on the West Coast and 56th nationally in the NCAA Division III rankings.
The Lutes accumulated 100 points this fall after advancing to the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament in both men's and women's soccer. PLU's 100 points is the best among NCAA Division III colleges and universities in the State of Washington, ranks second among Northwest Conference institutions, and is fifth best among programs on the West Coast and the Pacific Time Zone.
A total of 186 NCAA Division III teams appeared in the rankings by virtue of qualifying for the NCAA Championships in one or more of the following sports: men's and women's cross country, field hockey, football, men's and women's soccer, and volleyball. Total NCAA Division III membership exceeds 430 institutions.
Johns Hopkins University sits atop the standings with 500.5 points with Williams College second with 443.5. PLU is one of five NWC schools in the standings. George Fox University is 53rd with 115.5 points while Linfield University is 84th (53), and University of Puget Sound and Willamette University are 90th with 50 points.
The Learfield Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in NCAA Championships. A total of 18 teams can be scored for each institution of which four must be men's and women's basketball and men's and women's soccer. The first set of winter standings will be released on March 30.
In addition to leading the NWC in the Directors' Cup, the Lutes sit atop the NWC's 2022-2023 McIllroy-Lewis All-Sports Trophy standings which were released on Nov. 23 after the conclusion of the six conference championships contested this fall.
