HILLSBORO, Ore. - The Pacific Lutheran University softball team started the 2022 season with a bang in Texas and on Monday earned a clean sweep of the Northwest Conference weekly awards. Slugger
Casey Wright was tabbed the NWC Hitter of the Week while
Kennedy Kila secured NWC Pitcher of the Week honors.

Wright secures hitter of the week after boasting a .643 batting average over five games in the Lone Star State, including a .706 on-base percentage and a 1.143 slugging percentage. The Federal Way, Washington native had two home runs and six RBIs, in addition to scoring seven runs. Wright had a base hit in all five games she was in the lineup, including a three-for-four effort in the season opening 16-6 win over Trinity University and a three-for-three effort against Schreiner University the following day.

Kila lands pitcher of the week after allowing no earned runs and striking out five in two appearances inside the circle. The Ewa Beach, Hawaii native made her collegiate debut in the season opener, tossing 3 1/3 innings of relief and striking out four to secure the win. Kila did it again the following day, logging two innings of scoreless relief to notch the win in a 6-5 nail biter over Southwestern University. Kila logged 5 1/3 innings over the weekend, limiting opposing hitters to a paltry .200 batting average.Â

The Lutes (5-1) are back on the road this weekend, traveling to California for doubleheaders against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges, Chapman University, and California Lutheran University.
