Official D3baseball.com Release
TACOMA, Wash. - Pacific Lutheran University reliever
Noah Ferguson was lights out in California and on Wednesday earned national acclaim, securing a spot on the D3baseball.com Team of the Week.
Ferguson was one of 16 student-athletes from around the nation to be honored and one of just two relief pitchers to make the cut.
The righthander from Salem, Oregon lands a spot on the squad after tossing two innings of scoreless relief for the Lutes (12-6, 5-4 NWC), allowing no hits and striking out four to earn a pair of saves on the road against 20th-ranked California Lutheran University.
Ferguson entered in the eighth inning in the opener on Thursday, recording four outs and fanning three in the Lutes' 4-2 victory. The following day, Ferguson took the reins with one out in the ninth and retired the next two batters in a 3-1 win to earn a sweep of the KIngsmen.
The reliever is one of two Northwest Conference players to make the National Team of the Week, joining Pacific University catcher Isaac Lovings. Ferguson is the first Lute to earn National Team of the Week recognition since
Jordan Haworth landed a spot on the team on March 30 of last season.
Ferguson and the Lutes are back on the diamond on Saturday, hosting crosstown rival University of Puget Sound in a doubleheader beginning at noon.
