Lutes Erase Blue Streaks 6-0

WHEATON, Ill. — A pair of goals from Hannah Cecil and Julia Causbie was more than enough offensive firepower on Saturday as the Pacific Lutheran University women's soccer team steamrolled John Carroll University 6-0 on Saturday at the Bob Baptista Invitational.

Hannah Cecil opened the lid on a 17-minute scoring binge in the first half, scoring in the 23rd minute off a pass from Alyssa Leong. Julia Causbie doubled the Lute advantage with an unassisted score in the 38th minute before Olivia Boehm made it 3-0 just under two minutes later with Kayden Hulquist earning the assist.

PLU (3-0-1) continued to pile on the goals in the second half with Cecil netting her second of the game in the 62nd minute off a Megan Michels assist while Causbie landed her second of the game just 36 seconds later, bumping the Lute buffer to 5-0.

Hulquist concluded the scoring with a goal in the 82nd minute off an assist from Cecil.

PLU outshot the Blue Streaks 25-4, including a 13-2 edge in shots on goal.

Shaylin Cesar made two saves in 62 minutes in goal while Abby Winkler handled the final 28 minutes, combining for the program's fourth consecutive shutout.

The Lutes open their Northwest Conference title defense next Saturday, hosting Pacific University at East Field. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m.
