TACOMA, Wash. – Sometimes in the game of soccer you can dominate a game in all aspects, but never find the back of the net.
That's what happened Thursday at East Field as the Pacific Lutheran women's soccer team fell 1-0 to crosstown rival Puget Sound in Northwest Conference action.
The Lutes (5-1-1 overall, 2-1-0 NWC) gave up a goal at the five-minute mark and then controlled possession the rest of the match, including a dominating second half where the time of possession as UPS (5-2-0, 2-1-0) went into a defensive shell.
PLU couldn't find the equalizer it needed, however, despite pushing nearly everyone forward and keeping a very high line defensively.
Shaylin Cesar made three saves in goal to keep the Lutes in the game.
PLU travels to Willamette on Sunday for a noon kickoff.
