TACOMA, Wash. — The Pacific Lutheran University men's basketball team eclipsed the 90-point barrier for the second consecutive game on Friday night, smashing Northwest Indian College 92-66 inside Olson Gymnasium.
The visiting Eagles (2-16) made the Lutes (7-1) break a sweat early in the game, jumping out to an 8-5 lead. Undaunted, the homestanding Lutes battled back with a
Sam Noland three tying the game and touching off a 13-0 Lute run. It was Noland again to cap off the spurt, scoring a layup with 11:50 remaining in the first half as PLU led 18-8.
NWIC reduced the gap to seven points with 9:46 left in the first half before the Lutes tallied 25 of the next 27 points, taking a 31-point lead on a
Miles Nash jumper with 1:39 remaining and enjoying a 48-22 lead at the halftime intermission.
PLU maintained at least a 21-point cushion the entire second half to improve to 4-0 at home this season.
Nash led all scorers with 22 points while adding nine rebounds, hitting nine of his 13 shits from the floor. Reigning NWC Player of the Week
Sam Noland added 19 while Bradin Riedel had nine points and five assists.
Jason Montes had three steals awhile
Mack Hepper hauled down eight rebounds.
PLU outmuscled Northwest Indian 51-21 on the glass, including a 19-4 discrepancy in offensive rebounds. That contributed to a 22-4 Lute edge in second chance points while also owning a 44-34 edge in points in the paint.
Pacific Lutheran returns to the hardwood on Tuesday, hosting Portland Bible College at 7 p.m.
