HILLSBORO, Ore. — The Pacific Lutheran University men's tennis program heads into the 2023 season ranked ninth in the Northwest Conference Coaches' Preseason Poll released this month.
The Lutes amassed eight points in the poll which landed them in ninth place. They are just eight points behind eighth ranked Willamette University and 15 points behind cross town rival University of Puget Sound in seventh.
George Fox University is the frontrunner after winning the league title last spring and advancing to the NCAA Division III Championships. The Bruins received eight of the nine first place votes and had a total of 64 points. Pacific University has the remaining first place vote and are in second place with 55 points. Whitman College rounds out the top three with 51 points.
Lewis & Clark College, Linfield University, and Whitworth University occupy the four through six spots in the poll with 44, 34, and 29 points, respectively.
Pacific Lutheran placed seventh in the NWC last season. They start conference play on March 11th when the Lutes square off against Pacific in Tacoma. The NWC Tournament will take place April 22-23rd at the #1 seed.
The Lutes debut a new and young roster that opens up the season on Wednesday when they visit University of Puget Sound at 4:30 p.m. for a non-conference dual match.
