WORCESTER, Mass. – The Pacific Lutheran University women's rowing team finished ninth on Sunday at the Worcester Polytechnic Institute Regatta. Seven of the eight teams ahead of the Lutes are currently ranked in the top 13 teams in the nation.

The Lutes' second varsity boat started things off this morning on the East Coast. PLU finished fifth in 8:29.40. Later in the morning, the Lutes took fourth in the petite final after finishing in 8:21.20. Wellesley College, currently ranked fourth in the country, won the 2V grand final in 6:56.70.

PLU's top boat took fifth in its opening heat, finishing in 7:43.20. The Lutes also finished fourth in the petite final in 7:40.70. Wellesley also produced the top boat in the 1V competition, completing the course in 6:48.10.

PLU will look to win its seventh consecutive Northwest Conference Championship next Sunday on Vancouver Lake. Â
