TACOMA, Wash. — College Sports Communicators recognized student-athletes for excellence on the court and in the classroom on Tuesday with three members of the Pacific Lutheran University volleyball team securing CSC Academic All-District honors.
Earning the award was
Sydney Aoki,
Alexis Eggert, and
Makenna Jackson. To be eligible, student-athletes needed a minimum grade point average of 3.50 (on a 4.0 scale) or better and participate in 90 percent of the team's matches. Across the Northwest Conference, 20 student-athletes representing seven of the nine schools earned Academic All-District honors.Â
A senior defensive specialist,
Sydney Aoki is an environmental studies major. The Kaneohe, Hawaii native played in all 27 matches this fall, appearing in 102 of the team's 103 sets. Aoki finished the season with 168 digs and 18 aces.
A sophomore middle hitter,
Alexis Eggert is a nursing major. The Missoula, Montana native played in all 27 matches this fall, finishing second on the team in blocks (60) and fourth in kills (144).
A senior libero,
Makenna Jackson is an education major. The Roy, Washington native led the Northwest Conference in aces with 59 and ranked second in the league in total digs (471). It's the second postseason won by Jackson who was also tabbed Second Team All-NWC back in November.
The Lutes advanced to the NWC Tournament title game for the second consecutive season, closing the books on the 2024 campaign with a 19-8 overall record and a 13-3 mark in conference action.Â
