TACOMA, Wash. --- The Pacific Lutheran University Women's Golf team saw their first competitive action of the 2024 season as they took on Division II St Martin's University in a dual. The two squads competed at Tacoma Golf & Country Club on Monday, with the Saints coming away with the victory by a score of 355-322.

Leading the way for the Lutes was senior
Emily Fisher who rebounded with a four-over 39 on the final nine holes to shoot 84. Close behind was freshman
Abby Matelski who led the Lutes in multiple tournaments during the Fall 2023 season. Matelski shot an 87 following some late-round struggles.

Kathleen Pullin counted for the final two team scores for the Lutes as each fired a 92 on Monday.
Ashley Nguyen was the fifth score for PLU as she came in with a 99.

The Saints held the two lowest individual scores with 74 and 77 on their way to winning with a team score of 322.

"Collectively our attitudes on the course was the best we've seen from our group. We moved on from mistakes quickly and stayed confident on a tough track." Said Head Coach
Tyler Copp following Monday's match. " Emily and Abby led the charge today. Emily earned herself some back 9 justices, turning in a 39 on her final 9 including 6 pars. Meanwhile, Abby had a strong mental game all day fighting off some late round mistakes and holding it together for us."

The Lutes Women's Golf team will set their sights on their first tournament of 2024 at the Oklahoma Christian Invite in Las Vegas, Nevada, at TPC Summerlin next Monday.
