DUPONT, Wash. — Jayda Thomas finished eighth overall, guiding the Pacific Lutheran University women's golf squad to a seventh place showing on home turf at the 2026 PLU Invitational on Tuesday.

Thomas sat atop the leaderboard after firing off a 71 during Monday's opening round at The Home Course, a blazing finish that included six birdies and eight pars. Thomas finished the tournament on Tuesday with an 87, finishing the event with a 158.

Kate Sabarillo tied for 38th, shooting a 180 for the tournament. Sabarillo shot a 92 on Monday before shaving off four strokes on Tuesday with an 88. Kathleen Pullin was 41st with a 181 (88-93) while SeRi Park tied for 44th with a 186 (88-98). Kaia Gallant rounded out the Lute finishers, shooting a 215 (102-113).

The Lutes finished seventh overall with a team tally of 705, finishing one stroke ahead of Northwest Conference rival Linfield University and one stroke shy of sixth place University of Puget Sound. PLU carded a 339 on Monday before battling tough conditions on Tuesday and shooting a 366. University of Redlands won the team title with a score of 623 (310-313).

"Tuesday was a rough day for us. Certainly the weather conditions were atrocious to begin the day but we just never really got it going today. Hopefully we're going to learn from this and be prepared for next week's fall classic," said Head Coach Al Patterson.

"Jaida had a tough day today and we're 100% confident that she's going to bounce back and be right in the mix of things for next week. Mari Morris was not able to play. She had qualified as our second best player and due to sickness she wasn't able to play this tournament, so Mari certainly would've helped us but again all we can do is keep working. Look forward to next week and coming back with a great attitude and I'm confident we're going to do that."

Pacific Lutheran is back in action on Oct. 4 for round one of the NWC Fall Classic at North Plains, Oregon. The NWC Fall Classic is one of three tournaments that decide the league's automatic qualifier for the NCAA Division III Tournament.
