Lutes End Match Against Loggers in a 2-2 Draw

TACOMA, Wash. --- The Pacific Lutheran University Women's Golf team competed in a head-to-head dual against the Puget Sound Loggers on Saturday, four Lutes competed in the match play format that ended in a 2-2 draw.
 
Competing in the #1 spot for the Lutes was freshman Abby Matelski, who went up against the Loggers best. The DuPont, Wash. native took the match into extra holes, defeating her opponent on the first extra hole to give the Lutes one team point.
 
Ashley Nguyen made her first start in the two-spot for the Lutes, falling in her match on the 14th hole, 5 & 4. Senior Ariana Warren also came up short on Saturday at Oakbrook, giving the Loggers their second team point in a 4 & 3 defeat.
 
Ava Edmonds made her match play debut on Saturday, cracking the lineup for the first time since 2022. The senior came away with the biggest win for the Lutes on Saturday, defeating her opponent 4 & 3. Edmonds victory gave the Lutes a second point for the team, making it a 2-2 draw due to the Loggers bringing only four competitors to the match.
 
The Lutes Women's Golf team looks ahead to their second tournament of the spring season next weekend back at Oakbrook Golf Club, where they compete in the UPS Invite on Saturday and Sunday.
