HILLSBORO, Ore. — The Pacific Lutheran University men's cross country team was picked fourth in the annual Northwest Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll released on Friday afternoon.
The Lutes rank fourth after racking up 40 points in the poll, enjoying a seven point edge over fifth-ranked Linfield University.
George Fox University is the preseason favorite with 63 points and seven of the nine first place endorsements. Whitworth University is second with 56 points and one first place vote while Lewis & Clark College is third with 50 points and the remaining first place nod.
Whitman College ranks sixth with 31 points followed by University of Puget Sound in seventh with 24 points. Willamette University (19 points) and Pacific University (eight points) round out the rankings in eighth and ninth place, respectively.
Pacific Lutheran opens the 2024 season tomorrow morning at the Puget Sound Invitational at Fort Steilacoom Park.
