KIRKLAND, Wash.—Lilli Williams career-high 18 points kept the Pacific Lutheran University women's basketball team in the game as they eventually dropped the road contest against Northwest University Eagles on Saturday afternoon.
PLU owns the all-time series at 7-3 overall against the Eagles. The Lutes shot a total of 34 free throws converting 22 of them, which is a new season high in attempts and makes.
Lutes started off the game going back and forth with the Eagles as both team got things going offensively shooting a blistering 50 and 70.6 percent from the floor in the first quarter.
Sydney Reisner controlled the pace of play finishing with seven points and one assist in the first quarter.
Kylie Griffin would then take over in the second quarter efficiently getting to her spots with nine points and two rebounds.
Down 53-38 at the half, the Lutes would cut the Eagles lead to eight points with 7:07 remaining in the fourth quarter. Williams was a big factor in momentum swinging back towards PLU finishing with nine points and three rebounds in the fourth quarter alone. The sophomore would finish the game with a new career-high 18 points with six rebounds on 6-of-7 from the free throw line.The Eagles would ultimately prevail after an efficient shooting night from behind the arc shooting 16-of-32.
Griffin and Reisner would finish with 16 and 14 points respectively to round out the top three scorers for the Lutes. Reisner has now scored in double-figures in 43 games out of 72 in her career as a Lute.
PLU will return to action tomorrow December 14 at 2 PM as they face The Evergreen State College inside Olson Gymnasium.
