Setting the Scene: It's a busy weekend in Luteville with the Pacific Lutheran University athletic department having eight programs competing over the President's Day weekend. Men's and women's swimming is up in Federal Way hosting the 2025 Northwest Conference Championships while men's and women's basketball have senior day on Saturday against Willamette University. Baseball opens the season in California on Friday, track & field makes a return to Seattle while women's lacrosse hosts its first ever varsity game on Sunday at East Field.

Women's Lacrosse: The Lutes officially announced the University's newest sport back on March 27, 2023. After almost two years of planning the squad will take the field on Sunday in the program's first ever game as they take on non-conference foe Eastern Oregon.

Women's Swimming: The Lutes look improve on last season's fourth place finish at the NWC Championships, a meet that saw Head Coach Andrew Lum snag NWC Coach of the Year.

PLU last competed back on Feb. 1, falling 160-55 to University of Puget Sound to finish off the dual meet slate with a 4-4 record. Lola Chargulaf and Riley Maher both secured event wins, winning the 100-yard backstroke and the 200-yard butterfly, respectively.

Men's Swimming: Pacific Lutheran aims to move up the standings at the four-day championship meet after finishing the 2024 NWC meet seventh overall.

The Lutes last meet against Puget Sound was a 191.5-29.5 setback, a day that saw Tyler Tanaka win the 1,650-yard freestyle.
 
Men's Basketball: The Lutes (11-11, 8-5 NWC) sit in second place in the NWC standings with three games remaining after a big second half effort in an 83-69 triumph over crosstown rival Puget Sound. 
 
Emmett Holt was on fire, scoring a career-high 33 points with 23 coming in the second half. PLU led by just three at the halftime break but pulled away early in the second half in a game that also saw Jason Montes score 17 and Charlie Kapranos dishing out eight assists.
 
Baseball: The Lutes had their opener on Thursday rained out in California against Whittier College but looks to play a three-game set over the next two days against nationally-ranked Pomona-Pitzer Colleges.

Women's Basketball: The Lutes (7-15, 4-9 NWC) outscored the visiting Loggers 17-10 in the final quarter but it wasn't enough to erase an early scoring drought as Puget Sound secured the 60-51 victory.

Brooke Samura was one rebound short of her fourth double-double of the season, pacing PLU with 13 rebounds and nine assists. 
 
PLU's gritty defense leads the league in rebounding (39.6) and ranks third in the NWC in field goal defense (36.7 percent).
 
Track & Field: PLU is back up to Seattle for the squad's final regular season indoor meet of the year. Last time up at the University of Washington's Dempsey Indoor, Grady Lemma and Kyleigh Archer both had big performances.

Lemma was 10th overall in the 60-meter hurdles and was the top D3 finisher while Archer had a season best jump in the triple jump, going 35 feet, nine ¼ inches.
