HILLSBORO, Ore. -- Emmett Holt was a one man wrecking crew for the Pacific Lutheran University men's basketball team last weekend and on Monday was rewarded for his success, securing Northwest Conference Player of the Week.
The Pocatello, Idaho native averaged 28.0 points per game and 5.0 rebounds per game as the Lutes remained in second place in the NWC standings with a pair of victories inside Olson Gymnasium. Holt was on fire from the floor, shooting a blistering 69.7 percent from the field and a 55.6 percent clip from beyond the arc.
Holt dropped a career-high 33 points on Tuesday in PLU's 83-69 thumping of crosstown rival University of Puget Sound. The senior guard shot 13-for-17 from the floor and hit four threes in the win, scoring 33 points while netting 23 points on 10-for-16 shooting in a 84-69 victory over Willamette University.
Holt is the third Lute to win NWC Player of the Week this winter, joining teammates
Miles Nash (Feb. 3) and
Brandin Riedel (Dec. 16).
The Lutes (12-11, 9-5 NWC), winners of three straight, look to clinch a spot in the NWC postseason this weekend, closing out the regular season in Oregon against Pacific University on Friday night and Lewis & Clark College on Saturday evening.
