TACOMA, Wash. — The Pacific Lutheran University Athletic Department hosted its annual National Girls and Women in Sports Day Clinic on Saturday inside Olson Gymnasium bringing together Lute student-athletes and girls in the local community in grades first through six.
"This clinic not only exposes young girls in the community to sports they may have never gotten the chance to try, it also provides mentorship from our outstanding and talented student-athlete volunteers," said Assistant Athletic Director
Kennadi Carlisle.
Â
The clinic had six different stations and volunteers from the women's soccer, track & field, softball, and volleyball teams, along with volunteers from the dance team and the PLU football team. In total, there were almost 40 girls in attendance at the clinic along with 25 volunteers from the various Lute teams.Â
Â
"As the saying goes: 'you have to see it to be it', and that's why I find this clinic so important and influential. Our campers saw firsthand that going to college and being a collegiate student-athlete is well within reach! Not to mention, they were able to try out fast-growing women's sports like lacrosse and flag football!"Â
Â
The Lutes will host their third and final free clinic of the academic year in early May.
