TACOMA, Wash. — Taylee Alldredge found the back of the net for the fifth straight game, but the first-year's scoring streak wasn't enough on a cold and wet Thursday night with the Pacific Lutheran University women's lacrosse team stumbling 21-1 to Occidental College on East Field.
"I'm happy with how we were able to make changes in our game from Tuesday night to tonight," said Head Coach
Melanie Rizzotti.
"We look to continue learning and making improvements heading into the weekend."
Alldredge's goal, her team leading 12th of the season, came unassisted with 97 ticks left in the third quarter.
The opening four games of the season saw PLU (1-4) score first but on Thursday it was the visiting Tigers (5-3) that drew first blood, with Olivia Okamoto scoring off the opening draw and having a hand in the opening three goals of the night. Occidental staked a 9-0 edge after 15 minutes of play and took a 15-0 advantage into the halftime intermission.
Pacific Lutheran slowed down the Oxy offense in the second half, limiting the Californians to just 12 shots over the final 30 minutes.
Kassie Diller made 12 saves on the night, logging all 60 minutes between the posts. Oxy rotated three goalkeepers on the night with Andie Angelacci collecting the win after patrolling the posts for the opening 15 minutes and making one save.
Alldredge led the Lutes with two shot attempts and four ground balls while Samantha Velasco Patiño has three ground balls. As a team PLU was 10-for-22 on clears, including going seven-for-12 in the second half.
The Lutes are back in action on Saturday, playing their fourth game over eight days when they travel to McMinnville, Oregon to face Linfield University.
