PORTLAND, Ore.--- The Pacific Lutheran University women's lacrosse team (1-10, 0-4 NWC) fell short in their first road challenge of the Northwest Conference regular season against the Lewis & Clark Pioneers (8-3, 1-1 NWC), 19-1.

The Lutes took control of the opening draw, as freshman
Taylee Alldredge fired the first shot of the game but was stopped by the Pioneers keeper. Lewis & Clark struck first moments later on the ensuing possession. Although the Pios were down two players, they managed to add on two more goals in the first five and a-half minutes, taking an early 3-0 lead to forced a timeout by PLU Head Coach
Melanie Rizzotti; later adding on four more to end the first up 7-0.

The Pios matched their efforts from the first quarter, taking a 14-0 lead into the half. The Lutes defense played better coming out of the halftime break, as the Pios scored three times in the third, with the long shot by Alldredge being stopped by the Lewis & Clark goalkeeper.

In the final quarter,
Kathleen Swankowski scored the lone goal for the Lutes, her second goal in consecutive days. The Lutes fell short of the Pios on the road, 19-1.

Taylee Alldredge took two of the Lutes three total shots in the game, with both on-target but being stopped by the Pios keeper. Alldredge also picked up four ground balls and caused one turnover in the game.
Kassie Diller handled the goalkeeping for the Lutes, making seven saves on 28 shots faced, while picking up seven ground balls.

The Lutes return to Oregon yet again next weekend for a pair of games against Pacific and George Fox on Friday and Saturday.
