HILLSBORO, Ore. — Another big week in the circle has earned Pacific Lutheran University flamethrower
Paige Wilson Northwest Conference Pitcher of the Week honors, securing the award for the third time this season on Monday.
Â
The Carlsbad, California native wins the honor after collecting two complete game wins and a save over the weekend in Spokane, helping the Lutes earn a four-game road sweep of Whitworth University. Wilson's banner weekend, included tossing her third no-hitter of the season. Wilson allowed just two baserunners and struck out three in the five-inning no-no, a 10-0 thrashing of the Pirates.Â
Wilson finished the entire week with a 1.65 ERA, tossing 17 innings with nine strikeouts and holding opposing hitters to a .167 batting average.Â
The sophomore was previously named NWC Pitcher of the Week on April 7 and March 8 with both awards coming off the heels of no-hitters against Gordon College and Willamette University, respectively. Wilson is the first Lute to toss three no-hitters in a season since Candace Howard did so during the 2003 campaign.
The Lutes (23-13, 13-11 NWC) are back on the diamond on Saturday with a doubleheader on the road against University of Puget Sound.Â
