Women's Soccer's Rally Cut Short as Lutes Draw 1-1 with Loggers

Tacoma, Wash.-- The Pacific Lutheran women's soccer team drew 1-1 contest with cross-town rival University of Puget Sound in another Northwest Conference match up under the lights of East Field.

A very even match up between both sides saw splits of 10-9 in total shots in favor of UPS, 7-5 in corner kicks PLU, and 7-4 shots saved UPS. With 59 games played in the rivalry, this marks just the fifth time that a match has resulted in a tie.

Puget Sound started off the scoring finding the net in the 20th minute of play. Pacific Lutheran applied pressure in the second half taking six shots and putting five on frame. Finally a breakthrough happened on a set piece corner kick in the 56th minute, Olivia Boehm whipped a corner in to the box around the six yard line that ricocheted off the cross-bar back out to Nahe Bukoski who one-timed a shot straight in to the corner netting tying the game at 1-1. Bukoski's equalizer was her first goal of the season.

Abby Winkler played the 90 minutes in goal and logged four saves on the day.

Lutes improve their record 2-2-3 overall, 2-0-1 NWC play. Pacific Lutheran travels to Willamette University in Salem, Oregon on Saturday, September 27th. Kick-off is slated for 12 PM.
