McMinnville, Ore. — Two goals in the first half was enough to carry the nine-time defending Northwest Conference Champion Pacific Lutheran University women's soccer squad on Sunday afternoon, vanquishing host Linfield University 2-1.
The host Wildcats (4-5-1, 2-4 NWC) struck first, scoring a goal in the game's sixth minute. Pacific Lutheran (5-2-3, 3-1-2 NWC) equalized in the 13th minute with
Kaitlyn Lemus scoring her first career goal off a pass from
Kyleigh Archer.Â
Zoe Markquart tallied the eventual game-winner in the 34th minute, her second goal of the 2026 campaign with
Taylor Thomas providing the assist. Neither team was able to get a goal over the final 56 minutes, helping PLU extend its unbeaten run to three games.
Host Linfield held a slim 6-5 edge in shots, including four of the seven on target.

Mia Speir earned the win in goal, making three saves in 90 minutes of action. Linfield's Tati Zahajko made one save and conceded two goals, also playing all 90 minutes.

The Lutes return home next weekend, opening a two-game homestand on Saturday at East Field against in-state rival Whitman College. Kickoff is set for 2:45 p.m.Â
