Official NWC Release
HILLSBORO, Ore. — The Northwest Conference office released its Athlete of the Week winners on Monday with Pacific Lutheran University women's lacrosse student-athlete
Gracie Cecka locking down NWC Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Â
The Oak Harbor, Washington native spearheaded the Lutes' defensive efforts in Friday night's 12-10 victory over Eastern Oregon University. The sophomore led the team with a career-high 10 ground balls and a career-best five caused turnovers while grabbing two draw controls.Â
Â
Cecka's performance helped the Lutes keep the Mountaineers off the scoreboard the entire second quarter.
Â
This is the first career Player of the Week honor for Cecka and is the first NWC Defensive of the Week honor for the program since goalie
Kassie Diller won the honor last spring on March 31.Â
Cecka and the Lutes (1-1) are back in action on Saturday afternoon, closing out a three-game homestand against crosstown rival University of Puget Sound. Opening draw at East Field is set for 1 p.m.
