HILLSBORO, Ore. — A weekend of lockdown defending on the road has earned Pacific Lutheran University's Landen Sexton recognition from the Northwest Conference, earning the NWC's Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week Award on Monday.

The senior from Olympia, Washington helped the Lutes (2-1-1) secure a pair of shutouts in suburban Chicago at the Bob Baptista Invitational. Sexton and the Lutes kept host Wheaton College off the scoreboard on Friday, securing a 2-0 victory over the Thunder behind a pair of goals from Ty Brunner. Sexton was back at it on Saturday, anchoring a defense that allowed no goals in a scoreless draw with North Park University. 

A First Team All-NWC selection and a Third Team USC All-Region X pick last fall, Sexton played all 90 minutes of both games in Illinois. Sexton is the second straight Lute to win NWC Defensive Player of the Week with goalkeeper Landon Gordon earning the award last Tuesday.
 
The Lutes begin NWC action on Saturday, hosting Pacific University at 12 p.m. on East Field.
