TACOMA, Wash. - The 17th-ranked Pacific Lutheran University women's soccer team and the University of Puget Sound headed into the day tied atop the Northwest Conference standings and things will remain that way for the time being with the league heavyweights battling to a scoreless draw on Wednesday at Peyton Field.

"UPS at UPS is not an easy place to play but it was one of our better performances there," said Head Coach Seth Spidahl. "It was an NCAA playoff type atmosphere and crowd and I was proud of our players. Was just an even game back and forth and we probably had the best two looks on goal. Their keeper Lauren Thomas came up with a couple good saves so credit to her."

The host Loggers (8-1-2, 5-0-2 NWC) owned a slim 16-12 edge in shots over the course of the double overtime contest while the Lutes (8-0-3, 5-0-2 NWC) enjoyed a 7-6 edge in shots on goal.

Pacific Lutheran posted its ninth shutout of the season and has now gone 400 consecutive minutes without conceding a score, holding the Loggers at bay over the course of the 90 minute contest in addition to two 10-minute overtime sessions.

Takara Mitsui made six saves in goal for the clean sheet, playing all 110 minutes while UPS's Lauren Thomas stopped seven saves on the evening.

"In game number 11 to go over there and come away with a point, we're happy with that. There's a lot of soccer left to be played, still nine conference games, including another match against UPS, so a lot can happen but I was proud of the grit and resilience that we showed."

The Lutes are back in action on Saturday, hosting George Fox University at 12 p.m. at East Field.
