Official NWC Release

HILLSBORO, Ore. — The Northwest Conference office released its first weekly award winners of the season on Tuesday with Pacific Lutheran University women's soccer goalkeeper Mia Speir landing NWC Defensive Player of the Week accolades. 

The Spokane, Washington native made her first collegiate starts on the road over the weekend, finishing with seven saves in Ohio. The junior stopped three shots against 11th-ranked Case Western Reserve University in Friday's opener before making five saves and the clean sheet in a 1-0 shutout of Baldwin Wallace University.
 
Speir and the Lutes (1-1) open up a four-game homestand on Thursday, welcoming Wheaton College to East Field. Kickoff against the Thunder is set for 4:30 p.m.
