Official NWC Release

HILLSBORO, Ore. — Two goals and two assists was more than enough to grab the attention of the Northwest Conference with Pacific Lutheran University student-athlete Kami Novotny earning NWC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week honors on Monday afternoon. 

The Issaquah, Washington native scored a goal in both road games last week. The junior scored in the 57thminute to put the Lutes' up 1-0 against crosstown rival University of Puget Sound on Wednesday in what was her first collegiate goal. Novotny continued where she left off on Sunday, scoring a goal and netting two assists in a 5-1 victory at Willamette University. Novotny tallied the game's opening score in the fifth minute before assisting on Kyleigh Archer's game-winner in the 12th minute. Novotny collected her second assist in the 52ndminute on another goal from Archer. 

This marks the third time this fall a Lute has won NWC Player of the Week and the first occurrence a Lute has won Offensive Player of the Week. PLU goalkeeper Mia Speir was tabbed NWC Defensive Player of the Week on both Sept. 8 and Sept. 14.

The Lutes (4-2-2, 2-1-1 NWC) are back in Oregon on Saturday with a game against Lewis & Clark College in Portland. Kickoff is slated for 2:45 p.m.
