PARKLAND, Wash. - Men's Tennis kicked off their last set of home matches this weekend with a 7-2 loss to Linfield.
PLU began the afternoon strong as James Okubo and Alberto Leal took an 8-3 win in
the one doubles spot. From there, the Lutes lost two close matches at two and three
doubles.
Singles saw a lot of the same action. Linfield lead through each match and took the
two, three, five and six singles quickly.
At one, Noel Oteng-Mensah gave Linfield's Trent Prussing a difficult match after
forcing a third set. The back and forth match ended with Oteng-Mensah falling to
Prussing 2-6, 6-0, 6-7.
DJ Pekoc came into singles strong and brought PLU it's only singles win. Pekoc took
Linfield's Carter Pentz to a third set tiebreak, eventually winning 7-6, 2-6 (10-5).
"Doubles was tight today," PLU Head Coach John Cassens said. "But DJ came up big
in singles too."
The men will play their final home match tomorrow afternoon against Lewis and
Clark at Sprinker Recreation Center. During their final match, the Lutes will be
honoring Jeremy Marsh and Noel Oteng-Mensah for senior day.
